The Mad Looper is from Newark, DE. he has only been making beats for a couple years. The Mad Looper started off 20 years ago as a DJ and then once the year 2000 hit he felt a shift in hip hop he wasn’t into so instead he picked up a guitar and started learning how to play blues. Eventually he realized that he hated dealing with band members and decided to pick up an MPC live and make my own backing tracks. Then next thing he knew he was sucked into underground hip hop and making beats.
Currently The Mad Looper uses a MPC X for practically everything. Then he also has an MPC live, SP 404a, and a PO33ko. He uses the MPC software but have Ableton Live 11 intro as a back up just in case. He hasn't incorporated guitars into his beats yet but he has a Gibson Les Paul traditional pro 2 and Gibson ES 335 that he uses with either a Blackstar, Fender, or Marshall tube amp depending on my mood.
For speakers he bought a pair of 8inch M-Audio’s connected to a FocusRite 2i2 and an old used HP Laptop he picked up from Best Buy that was totally spec’d out for less than $500.
For the most part he makes boombap and some LoFi. The Mad Loopeer just lets it flow out. If he intentionally try to make it LoFi it comes out Boombap and visa versa. Sometimes he likes dark samples but try's to stick with psychedelic and jazzy stuff. No matter what he never try's to force it out. He just puts sounds together and then there’s an end result that he either likes or hates.
