Deadchannel9000 is a beatmaker currently living in Tokyo, Japan. In 1991, when he was 13 years old, he happened to see "Yo! MTV Raps" and was shocked by the musicality of hip-hop, especially the sampling method. Influenced by 90’s underground hip-hop and instrumental hip-hop by DJ Krush and DJ Shadow, he started making beats at the age of 19, but he needed time to come to terms with his life, so he took a break from making beats for a while. Last year, he resumed making beats for the first time in about 20 years.
Deadchannel9000 beats are almost 100% made up of sampled material. He builds his beats on his MPC2000, which was the first piece of equipment he bought when he was 19, and run them through two dbx160x mono comps and an SP404SX before mixing and mastering on logic X. He don't care about the sampling source, as long as the resulting beat is DOPE. So he would sample from all kinds of media, mainly records, but also movies, games and Youtube. After resuming beat making last year, Deadchannel9000 released his first e.p, single and album as a complete DIY project including artwork production from his cramped bedroom in Tokyo to the world via Bandcamp, Spotify and Applemusic.
I'm very grateful to Beat Tape Co-Op for offering me this opportunity, and I'm very honored to be able to release "The Foundation Producer series". I hope my beats will reach the senses of hip-hop headz all over the world. I hope you enjoy this album!
